1 · One world, many perspectives
Runeterra is the world in which many League of Legends stories take place. The game brings characters together to compete; matches are not a chronology of their lives. A biography follows a person. A story presents an episode. A regional page introduces the surroundings. Any of those scales can be your starting point.
2 · Find your bearings without memorizing the map
Demacia introduces conflicts around order, belonging and magic. Noxus presents an expanding empire and competing ideas of strength. Ionia connects material life with the spirit realm. Piltover and Zaun connect invention, wealth and inequality. You do not need to learn every region before choosing one. Locate it in the atlas, then return when another story takes you somewhere new.
3 · Power does not explain a person
A champion may be a soldier, inventor, spirit or being transformed through magic. Their appearance and abilities do not explain all their loyalties. Ask what they want, what they fear losing and which decision changed their life. Those questions make character relationships more understandable than a list of powers.
4 · Ancient history and modern conflicts
Shurima, the Ascended, the darkin and the Ruination offer older threads that shape later stories. Not every account supplies exact dates or happens immediately after the previous one. The Rune timeline is an editorial reading guide: it connects accounts without turning parallel histories or myths into an invented calendar.
5 · Recognize the publication
An official publication identifies its publisher, but may preserve an earlier narrative state. An alternate universe, such as Odyssey or Star Guardian, deliberately presents other versions of familiar characters. The Rune’s reading notes connect sources and are distinguished from Riot’s text. Read the labels when comparing works.
6 · Your first reading
Choose Lux to explore belonging and magic, Ekko for a perspective from Zaun, or Miss Fortune for a rivalry in Bilgewater. Read one biography, open a related story and save what you want to return to. If a question remains, you can bring it to the community directly from the reading.
