About your data

Privacy

This lore frontend does not require an account.

Saved stories, biographies, guides and reading progress stay in this browser’s local storage. Clearing site data removes those local entries. We do not send your reading list or saved position to a server.

Search filters appear in the URL so you can bookmark a result. Optional visit statistics use PostHog’s European service only after you choose Allow statistics. They measure pages, language, referring website, region selection, video selection and reading depth. Statistics use a pseudonymous browser identifier and do not record sessions or collect search text. Rejecting statistics leaves the site fully usable. You can change your choice with Statistics preferences in the footer. There are no advertising scripts. Opening an official reader loads the publisher’s website. Playing a video loads YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player only after you select Play. These services may process requests and offer their own privacy controls. The hosting provider processes requests and optimizes images; external sources have their own privacy policies.

Community

Community messages are public. We store their text, time, chosen region, and a pseudonymous author. A necessary, secure browser cookie keeps your guest identity for 180 days; clearing it removes your access to that identity, not the messages already published. You can delete your own messages while you have that identity, or report content for moderator review. Rate-limit records use a salted hash of the connection address, never a publicly visible address. Moderator access uses Netlify Identity. Community message text and names are not sent to analytics.

You can generate a private key to recover your Chronicler in another browser for one year. We store a hash of the key, not its text. The key restores message ownership, not your local reading list.

The legacy newsletter interface is not included in this version.
