Older than its isolation
Ixtal's regional account places its culture before its membership in the Shuriman empire. It connects that heritage with a wider migration and other early civilizations. The text suggests a role in the first Ascended rather than proving every detail. Ixtal's identity therefore begins with participation in the wider world, not with an eternally sealed border.
The wilderness as a shield
After the threats of the Void and the darkin, Ixtali mages drew the wilderness around themselves and withdrew from their neighbors. Ixaocan developed behind this protection. Isolation is a historical choice supported by power and belief; it is not evidence that nothing has changed inside the city or that all its inhabitants know the same truths.
Three ways to approach Ixtal
Qiyana introduces the ruling order and her ambition within it. Milio offers a young traveler's perspective on elemental magic and the journey toward the capital.
