Its loose regulation creates opportunities for those fleeing their past, but little protection for the careless. It connects distant societies through trade and travel. The port's captains are powerful, yet they are not the whole story of the islands or their people.
The fall of an untouchable captain
The biographies of Miss Fortune and Gangplank explain why their rivalry changes the city. Miss Fortune's revenge destroys his ship and breaks his image of invincibility. The regional account describes the resulting transition without promising a stable new government. Read both perspectives to distinguish one captain's ambitions from the future of the entire port.
A wider view of the islands
Illaoi provides an entry into Buhru faith and the demands of Nagakabouros. Her place in this setting cannot be reduced to a pirate's ally. Read her after the rival captains to widen the frame beyond their struggle. The region's connections to sea travel and the Shadow Isles then offer further paths; they are not all chapters of one continuous adventure.
